The outline is easy to describe: 5'10", lithe of limb, a feminine hourglass of a body, and long hair. But they say the devil is in the details, not in the broad strokes. That long hair is black as soot or mechanic's grease. Her eyes are the blue of a sky before the storm, her nose just a little too sharp to be called button. High cheek bones and a strong, and lips a hint thin can leave the woman with an unfortunate case of RBF.

Public History

Tinkerer, scion of old blood from old families, and maybe a little erratic. Juliana Bayle followed the footsteps of her father and took an education in Begma to be become a visionary engineer. With a glass of wine in one hand and a spanner in the other, she sails on the currents of adventure, leading a mercenary company through the Golden Circle.

Grexford Bayle, her father, was himself a product of arangged marriage between a Bayle and a Begman noble in an attempt to cement further ties with Amber, secure trade concessions with Bayle, and for Bayle to get hold of some fertile land in the Begman countryside. Grexford has retired to said land, where his attempts to create automatons to do the grape harvest have left the estate producing less than it should.

Marnie O'Malley, Julia's mother, is a Minosian. Marnie fell for Grexford at a tavern, where drunken discussion of the best way to temper metal gave way to a steamy romance. Marnie, of coure, was always meant for a life at sea and nearly melted away to nothing in the confines of polite society. She has retreated back to Minos, but inspired her daughter with tales of adventure and daring.

Julia has recently earned her Captain's Name in Minos. Having heard of a treasure map that would lead to a mine where metal could be found that was lighter and stronger than iron, she set out adventure to find it. She didn't. It turned out to be a trap laid by her mother's enemies to lure Julia out to be bait. But Julia and her crew of mercenary adventures sprung the trap and fought their way out with daring, panache, and clockwork. Julia is known, now, in Minos as Captain Backfire - both for having made he would-be kidnapper's plan backfire, and the way she, uh, accidentally lost her ship to a backfire of tech.
